I find that my life consists of a lot of activities that are ever evolving and hopefully that I am ever improving upon. Just now I classify myself as a mother of 2, a wife, a scientist, a runner, a knitter, and a cook. This blog chronicles my life and hobbies, sharing what I hope are funny bits and the occasional good bit of wisdom.
One of the best pieces of wisdom I ever received came as more of a statement on life from two women who made a huge impact on my life: my grandma and my great aunt. Both told me that they could have kept cleaner houses but instead they spent the time doing what they enjoyed. They told me this when I was in grad school and moving into the awkward land of early adult hood. I think they meant to encourage me to live a full life and not worry about the day to day stuff. That stuff (and mess in the kitchen) will still be there tomorrow! Since then, I’ve sort of taken their words to heart. I try not to sweat it if the house isn’t perfect and the dinner isn’t top chef quality. Instead, I try to enjoy time with my husband, GP, and our two children, Coco and Biscuit. Those are the things that are important to me.
So, what is Still in the Works all about, really? Well, it started as purely a knitting blog wherein I chronicled my knitting projects. It’s kind of grown since then to encapsulate all my hobbies – knitting, sewing, cooking, running, and now the children. I hope you find something you like here, whether you stay on for the long haul or are just passing through!
